Here are a few tips we have for building healthy habits and a couple different ways to stay active at home!

How To Get Started: Building a Habit

1. Knowing Your Bad Habits

To begin your journey in improving your lifestyle, it is important to create awareness around what you do regularly. After identifying patterns in your behaviour that trigger unhealthy habits, it becomes easier to develop ways to disrupt those patterns and create new healthy ones.

For instance, if you find that most of your social interactions involve going out for a meal or drinks, you can make plans to go on walks, runs, hikes, bike rides or an alternative activity.

2. Plan It Out & Be Specific

Make a plan with small, short-term reasonable goals and outline specific actions that you can take to move towards them. Instead of aiming to exercise more or be more active, create a plan that consists of which activity you are going to do, where and when.

3. Stay On Track

Make a plan with small, short-term reasonable goals and outline specific actions that you can take to move towards them. Instead of aiming to exercise more or be more active, create a plan that consists of which activity you are going to do, where and when.

4. Be Consistent

When working out consistently rest days are very important to include in your plan or schedule. Rest days can involve active ventures but still give your body a break from tougher workouts. It is also okay to take 1 day off, but beware as 2 days off can quickly spiral into 5, 10 and so on. Finding a buddy to exercise with is also a great way to stay accountable to your plan and build a habit.
